Penske Logistics Joins Sponsors of 2014 Third-Party Logistics Study

READING, Pa., April. 29, 2013 — Penske Logistics announced it will join Capgemini Consulting, Penn State's Center for Supply Chain Research, Korn/Ferry International, and eyefortransport in sponsoring the 2014 edition of the Annual Third-Party Logistics Study.

"Considering the study's ambitious objectives we are excited to have Penske Logistics as the newest member of our study team," said Penn State's Dr. C. John Langley. "On behalf of the entire study team we welcome Penske Logistics and we look forward to working with them."

Dr. C. John Langley of Penn State University initiated this study approximately 18 years ago to capture the evolution of the third-party logistics providers as they worked to transition from vendors of individual services to logistics partners offering integrated services and building meaningful, collaborative relationships with their customers. The Annual 3PL Study has become a widely anticipated, heavily referenced index regarding the state of the 3PL industry.

"We're pleased to be working with Dr. Langley and the other sponsors to further advance thought leadership in our industry," said Penske Logistics President Marc Althen. "We are committed to providing our customers with the latest supply chain and logistics thinking, processes and technologies."

In addition to expanding to become a year-round process, the study's evolution includes steadily expanding global reach, increased accessibility, expansion to include perspectives from both shippers and 3PLs, and the addition of supporting sponsors. The study now includes four streams of research: surveys, desk research, focus interviews and intensive, one-day facilitated shipper workshops. The first workshop takes place May 7 in Chicago. Additional workshops are scheduled for May 14 in Amsterdam and June 4 in Shanghai.

The results of this year's study will be released during the Council of Supply Chain Management Professional's Global Conference in Denver, Colo. October 20-23. To learn more about the Third-Party Logistics Study please visit: http://www.3plstudy.com/.
