What Is a Bill of Lading?

Understand how a Bill of Lading impacts your supply chain

A bill of lading (BOL) is a legal document listing the products delivered within a shipment similar to a purchase receipt. The freight carrier gives the BOL to the consignee to acknowledge the receipt of goods for a shipment. The BOL contains essential information about the cargo, like description, quantity and weight as well as terms and conditions for freight charges and transportation agreements.
