What Is a Distribution Center (DC)?

Understand how a Distribution Center fits into the supply chain

A distribution center is a warehouse facility that receives and temporarily holds inventory from manufacturing, then distributes those goods to the appropriate stores according to received orders. A distribution center is like a bridge between suppliers and customers and is a key part of the distribution chain. Because these centers typically handle such large quantities of inventory, they often stay up to date with the latest inventory technology to maintain organization.
