What Is E-commerce or Electronic Commerce (EC)?

Understand how E-commerce fits into the supply chain

Electronic commerce, also written as e-commerce, refers to the conducting of commercial business electronically via traditional EDI technologies or online via the Internet. There are three main types of e-commerce: business-to-business (B2B), business-to-consumer (B2C) and consumer-to-consumer (C2C), which includes sites like eBay. E-commerce can be conducted in place of having a brick-and-mortar store or in conjunction with a physical store location. It is very widespread and nearly anything can be purchased online.
