What Is a Benchmark?

Understand how Benchmarks fit into the supply chain

A benchmark is a measure, point of reference or standard for comparison; this performance level is recognized as the standard of excellence or target for a specific business process. Any metric used to compare actual performance is considered a benchmark. Within the logistics community, a benchmark can measure the performance of the company's supply chain by considering efficiency, value, productivity, and inventory or shipping accuracy.
